Job summary

ABSL Space Products, a division of EnerSys Advanced Systems, designs lithium-ion battery systems for space applications from our Longmont, CO facility. The role emphasizes following SOPs in an aerospace environment with strong attention to detail and teamwork with engineers.

The position involves hands-on testing of cells and packs, disassembly and inspection, and assembly of harnesses, with potential overtime and ITAR considerations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Project Engineers to qualify lithium-ion cells for space programs.
  • Operate test equipment to charge/discharge cells and battery packs.
  • Disassemble and inspect cylindrical cells per test instructions.
  • Support testing of new cell types per engineering instructions.
  • Maintain clean, organized work environment using good lab practices.
  • Assemble wire harnesses for various batteries and cell assemblies.

Compensation Range: $44,000 - $54,900
(Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.)

  • Work closely with Project Engineers to qualify lithium-ion battery cells for space battery programs.
  • Charge and discharge lithium ion battery cells and battery packs using specialized test equipment.
  • Complete disassembly and inspection of cylindrical battery cells per established test instructions.
  • Support a wide range of testing for new battery cell types per engineering instructions.
  • Use good laboratory practices to maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Assembly wire harnessing for various batteries and cell assemblies.
Qualifications
  • Educational requirement: minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Ability to follow and execute standard operating procedures in an aerospace environment.
  • Executes work with a high attention to detail.
  • Aerospace or high tech industry experience preferred.
  • Works well with fellow team members, under minimal supervision, and can take work direction from engineers as required.
  • Knowledge of or experience with lithium-ion or other batteries advantageous.
  • “Off” hours or weekend support may be required at times.

  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Risk of electrical shock.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
