The DeLong Co., Inc. is seeking a dependable General Labor team member for our grain elevator operation. This outdoor role keeps the grain moving and requires a safety-minded, hands-on approach throughout the day.

You will operate equipment, assist with grain receiving and load-out, and work with a skilled team to maintain efficient operations while developing real, marketable skills in PLC/controls and equipment operation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience at a grain handling facility.
  • Ability to read amp and percentage meters.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Solid math skills—percentages, decimals, and multiplication.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment and support grain receiving and load-out.
  • Keep the facility running efficiently and safely.
  • Work with an experienced team in a well-established company.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience at a grain handling facility
  • Working knowledge of PLC/controls and the ability to read amp and percentage meters
  • Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge
  • Solid math skills — comfortable with percentages, decimals, and multiplication
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and work in confined spaces
  • Physical comfort working at heights up to 150 feet and in all weather conditions
  • Flexibility to work long hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings during peak season
  • A genuine safety-first attitude — you look out for yourself and your teammates
Preferred
  • Strong people skills and a team-first mentality
  • Comfortable with technology, computers, and basic Microsoft Office
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-task work environment

Role

This is an active, outdoor role at a working grain elevator. You'll be on your feet and engaged throughout the day — operating equipment, supporting grain receiving and load-out, and keeping the facility running efficiently. The environment includes:

  • Outdoor and indoor work across all seasons — you'll be comfortable in this role if you genuinely enjoy working outside
  • Working at heights up to 150 feet with proper safety harnesses and equipment — full training and gear provided
  • Activity around heavy trucks and grain handling machinery — safety awareness is essential and rewarded here
  • A fast-moving, team-driven atmosphere during peak grain seasons
