Position Details
  • Level: Educational Assistant

  • Hours: Part‑time up to 17 hours per week
  • Anticipated Start Date: June 2026
  • Work Location: CT State Capital, 950 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103 (on site, not remote)

Position Summary

Working under the supervision of the Placement Testing Specialist, the EA – Test Proctor provides direct support for students who utilize the Testing Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare computer labs for testing, including sanitizing workstations and ensuring computers and testing software are functioning.
  • Check in students with a college or government‑issued ID.
  • Maintain a distraction‑free testing environment.
  • Provide information about testing policies and procedures to students.
  • Supervise students during testing to maintain test integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a related field and relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in exam proctoring, academic testing environments, or nursing education.
  • Familiarity with NCLEX‑style testing and nursing curriculum content.
  • Knowledge of testing accommodations and ability to implement them accurately and confidentially.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain exam integrity, security, and confidentiality in high‑stakes testing environments.
  • Ability to follow standardized procedures and enforce exam policies fairly and consistently.
  • Comfortable using educational and testing platforms (e.g., ExamSoft/Examplify, Blackboard Ultra).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, testing center staff, and administration.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to support scheduled exam times, including early mornings or extended testing periods into the afternoon.
Salary

$37.74 hourly.

Background Screening
  • Proof of eligibility to work under the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA).
  • Successful completion of a background check, including permission to contact previous employers, reference checks, criminal history, and, if applicable, credit or driving history checks.
