Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking a part-time Testing Proctor for the Fire Science Technology Department at the Dayton campus. The role supports students, faculty, and staff by proctoring tests and handling admin tasks.

Minimum diploma required; one year of customer service experience; EMT/Firefighter certification disqualifies. Wage is $17.98/hour, up to 28 hours/week, with benefits including tuition waiver and OPERS pension.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; certificate or associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year of work experience in customer service
• Knowledge of placement testing processes and college assessment protocols
• Professional verbal, listening and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle telephone, in person, online and email contacts professionally
• Knowledge of accounting and statistical procedures related to reports
• Ability to use Microsoft Word to produce memos, fliers, and correspondence
• Ability to enter and retrieve computer-based data; knowledge of Colleague software preferred
• Applicants who have ever been certified as an EMT or Firefighter are not eligible

Responsibilities

• Provide strong customer service and student advocacy with a positive attitude.
• Engage in inclusive behaviors that value all people.
• Investigate root causes of problems and resolve them quickly and professionally.
• Administer and proctor academic tests (paper/pencil, computerized, placement); proctor non-Sinclair tests.
• Communicate with faculty and staff to facilitate testing; manage calls, in person, online and email contacts.
• Ensure FERPA compliance; enter/retrieve student data and participate in training on data systems.
• Maintain records for follow-up and statistics on service usage.
