We have an exciting opportunity for a Test Operations Project Engineer for Gateway GRAIL to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

If selected you will:

  1. The Test Operations Project Engineer will be essential to the success of the Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Lab (GRAIL) which will certify the avionics for all modules of the Gateway Program which will return to the moon.
  2. This position will include possibly rotating to support Second Shift Hours (3 pm-11 pm) during testing operations.
  3. Support project group with design of new and existing avionic testing hardware.
  4. Coordinate with MCC Scheduling, GRAIL Operations and Maintenance (O&M), Safety Quality and Assurance (QA/QE), and other groups as required to plan and execute testing activities - Support Test Readiness Reviews (URR/TRR).
  5. Ensure QA/QE support is scheduled to support testing.
  6. Perform pre-task briefs.
  7. Execute GRAIL validation testing, acting as Test Operations Engineer.
  8. Retain test result documentation and ensure archiving of as run test procedures.
  9. Contribute to Post Test Reports (PTR).
  10. Work with test community to develop the top-level test procedures in DOORS Next Generation which will be transformed to GRAIL test checkout procedures.
  11. Perform ground testing and flight operations testing for hardware with end item documentation of the GRAIL - Use Linux based workstations and scripts for switch layout of the lab.
  12. Support integration testing for verification and validation activities of hardware.
  13. Should understand and support project testing schedule and produce required documentation.
  14. Should review and track engineering deliverables for project status reporting.
  15. Should understand CAD drawings and large-scale system configurations.
  16. Work with procurement documentation and work with vendors for hardware specification and delivery.
  17. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  1. This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.
  2. Typically requires a HS diploma and 5 years of experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field.
  3. BS degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or IT from an accredited school.
  4. Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  5. Understanding of electrical, mechanical and power systems.
  6. Understanding of lab operations and documentation.
  7. This position will include possibly rotating to support Second Shift Hours (3 pm-11 pm) during testing operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Knowledge of Avionic Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork is a plus.
  2. Past experience with NASA avionics is a plus.
