Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Test Operations Project Engineer for Gateway GRAIL to join our team through Bastion, a partner company. The role involves supporting the Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Lab (GRAIL), which certifies avionics for all Gateway Program modules returning to the moon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the success of GRAIL by supporting avionics testing and certification.
  • Support testing operations, including possibly rotating to support Second Shift Hours (3 pm-11 pm).
  • Design and support the development of new and existing avionics testing hardware.
  • Coordinate with MCC Scheduling, GRAIL Operations and Maintenance, Safety, Quality, and other groups for testing activities.
  • Support Test Readiness Reviews (URR/TRR).
  • Schedule QA/QE support for testing activities.
  • Conduct pre-task briefs and execute validation testing as Test Operations Engineer.
  • Document test results and archive test procedures.
  • Contribute to Post Test Reports (PTR).
  • Develop top-level test procedures in DOORS Next Generation, transforming them into GRAIL test checkout procedures.
  • Perform ground and flight testing with proper documentation.
  • Utilize Linux workstations and scripts for lab operations.
  • Support hardware verification and validation activities.
  • Understand and support project testing schedules and documentation requirements.
  • Review engineering deliverables and track project status.
  • Interpret CAD drawings and system configurations.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware specifications and delivery.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

Candidates should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and power systems.
  • Experience with lab operations and documentation.
  • Willingness to support Second Shift hours if needed.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of avionics hardware and flight processes.
  • Experience with NASA avionics is a plus.
Additional Information

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
