Job Summary:

The Test Lab Technician will work in the R&D Engineering Lab and will be responsible for testing the electrical, mechanical, and environmental parameters of a wide range of fiber optical and coaxial products. This is an onsite position located at the East Syracuse, NY manufacturing facility and reports to the Lab Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Tests prototype products for optical performance, mechanical performance, and durability.
• Tests environmental parameters; including Ultra Violet, Salt fog, vibration, thermal cycling.
• Assists with equipment setup, lab configurations, troubleshooting, and implementing test lab processes.
• Assists with documentation, calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on lab equipment.
• Reads and interprets schematics, blueprints, and specifications to complete tests and determine product functionality and performance.
• Operates test devices through prescribed sequences, records test data, and reports deviations to the supervisor.

Required Skills And Experience

Education and Experience: Two-year technical degree or equivalent certification with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an electrical or fiber optic technician role.

Knowledge & Skills: Experience in a validation test lab environment with optical, mechanical, and electronic systems; experience setting up tests within environmental chambers is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to utilize precision hand tools.
