Job summary

HSP US is seeking a Test Lab Technician to validate performance, reliability, and safety of high-voltage equipment. You will set up test gear, perform electrical/mechanical tests, collect data, and generate accurate reports for engineers and production teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or associate degree in electrical engineering, hands-on HV testing experience, and strong documentation and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, or an associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage products, dielectric testing, and manufacturing or production processes is preferred.
  • Active listening and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques.
  • Ability to analyze test data, perform basic electrical calculations, recognize abnormal trends, investigate anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated safety awareness including lockout/tagout, grounding practices, interlocks, restricted-area controls, PPE and pre-test checks.
  • Commitment to accurate, traceable documentation of test settings, results and conditions.
  • Ability to follow procedures precisely, maintain organized work area, manage multiple priority and stop work when unsafe.

Responsibilities

  • Support assembly of test products and provide lab assistance.
  • Monitor condition of equipment and facilities to remain in good working order.
  • Report issues or anomalies to appropriate personnel.
  • Support daily production quotas.

As a Test Lab Technician, you play a key role in validating the performance, reliability, and safety of high-voltage equipment and systems. You'll set up and operate specialized test equipment, conduct electrical and mechanical tests, collect and analyze data, and prepare accurate test reports. Working closely with engineering, quality, and production teams, you'll help ensure products meet customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory expectations. What We Are Looking For!
  • Test execution and conduct high voltage tests according to established procedures and standards as determined by Technical Documentation and guidance of test lab managing team. This includes setting up and calibrating test equipment, applying high voltage, and monitoring equipment performance.
  • Accurately record test data for analysis. This includes measurements of voltage, current, and time, as well as any observations during the test.
  • Prepare test reports that include a summary of the test procedures, data, and results. Communicate results effectively to engineers, other team members and supervisors.
  • Create and develop test procedures and protocols for high voltage equipment.
  • Ensure and follow all safety procedures when handling high voltage equipment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and ensuring that all safety interlocks and procedures are followed.
  • Verify the safety and efficiency of test lab environment for other team members.
  • Evaluate test results and assess the performance of the equipment under test.
  • Provide support and assistance in laboratory environments with assembly of test products and objects.
  • Monitor the condition of test equipment and facilities to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Report any issues or anomalies detected during testing to the appropriate personnel.
  • Support the team in achieving daily production quotas.
What You Will Bring!
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field; or a community college diploma or associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution is required.

  • Demonstrated safety awareness, including adherence to lockout/tagout requirements, grounding and discharge practices, equipment interlocks, restricted-area controls, personal protective equipment, and pre-test safety checks.
  • Commitment to accurate, traceable documentation, including equipment identification, calibration status, environmental conditions, test settings, measured values, observations, deviations, and final results.
  • Ability to follow written procedures precisely, maintain an organized work area, manage multiple test priorities, and stop work when an unsafe condition, equipment concern, or questionable result is identified.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience using and safely connecting electrical test instruments such as oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, voltage breakdown testers, power meters, micro-ohmmeters, multimeters, capacitance and power-factor test sets, and partial-discharge measuring equipment is preferred.
  • Two or more years of relevant hands-on experience with low-voltage or high-voltage circuits, electrical testing, laboratory work, commissioning, maintenance, or troubleshooting is preferred.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and foundational knowledge of electrical quantities, electromagnetic theory, circuit analysis, insulation systems, and the relationships among voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, inductance, power, and frequency are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and the Windows operating system is required.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW, automated data-acquisition systems, test-control software, AutoCAD, MATLAB, or similar laboratory applications is preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, test circuits, and equipment manuals is required.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy electrical test equipment or components (up to 40 lbs) is required.
  • Working at height and using elevating platforms is a mandatory requirement of this job and will be evaluated during the selection process.
  • Able to work on a shift rotation as required.
  • English language proficiency with fluency in read, write and speak in English language required.
  • Ability to distinguish the difference between the colors is required.
  • Familiarity with applicable IEC, IEEE, ANSI, ASTM, and internal test procedures is strongly preferred, including the ability to identify acceptance criteria, tolerances, and required test records.
