Job summary

KB Signaling Inc. seeks a motivated Test Hardware Engineer Intern to support the design of a custom switch matrix for automated production test systems.

You will gain hands-on experience with analog and digital circuits, relays, PCB development, and test automation hardware. You will work with engineering teams to create a reliable, scalable switching architecture for routing measurement and stimulus signals during manufacturing and validation testing.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Completed coursework in circuit analysis, electronics, and digital systems.
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuit fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB design tools.
  • Experience using common laboratory test equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a custom switch matrix subsystem for automated production test equipment.
  • Evaluate and select switching technologies including relays, solid-state relays, multiplexers, and analog switches.
  • Create schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Develop signal routing architectures for measurement and testing.
  • Perform circuit simulations to verify signal integrity and specs.
  • Assist with prototype assembly, bring-up, troubleshooting, and validation testing.
  • Design relay driver circuits and interface logic for microcontroller/FPGA control.
  • Conduct bench testing with oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs, LCR meters, etc.
  • Document hardware designs, test procedures, and validation results.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and test teams to meet throughput and reliability goals.
  • Support debugging and root-cause analysis of hardware issues.
