Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Electronics / Engineering Technician to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic systems and test equipment. This role requires practical experience building cables and assembling test racks, working with electrical and electronic components, and supporting engineering and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build custom cables and wire harnesses, including crimping, soldering, labeling, and continuity testing
- Assemble and wire test racks and test fixtures, including power distribution, signal routing, and instrumentation integration
- Support development and bring-up of new test systems for prototype, validation, and production testing
- Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and system-level issues in test equipment and devices under test (DUTs)
- Use test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators
- Identify and document failures, root causes, and corrective actions
- Support engineering with prototype builds, design validation testing, and design-for-test feedback
- Maintain accurate build, test, and repair documentation
- Follow ESD, safety, and quality procedures
- Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration, and lab organization as needed
- Receiving and organization of project materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 2 years experience working as a technician
- Experience building cables and wire harnesses (crimping, soldering, connectors, shielding)
- Experience assembling and wiring test racks or test fixtures
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electronic and electrical systems
- Proficiency with common electronic test equipment
- Familiarity with ESD-safe handling and industry safety practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting test engineering, validation, or reliability engineering teams
- Familiarity with automated test systems and instrumentation (ATE experience a plus)
- IPC soldering and/or IPC/WHMA wire harness certifications
- Experience working with rack-mounted instrumentation and power systems
- Basic mechanical assembly experience (drilling, mounting, hardware installation)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a bench or standing for extended periods
- Ability to use hand tools and small assembly tools
- Occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs
- Test Engineering lab, test environment
- Exposure to energized equipment following proper safety procedures
