Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of electronics, electromechanical, or related assembly experience.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with crimping, wire termination, soldering, cable and harness assembly, and electrical/mechanical assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire custom test equipment and prototype fixtures.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Build and wire control panels; perform mechanical modifications.
  • Crimp and terminate electrical connectors; PCB soldering is a plus.
  • Assemble 19" rack-mount test cabinets and perform functional testing.
  • Inspect wiring and assemblies for quality; follow project requirements.
  • Support small-scale production of electronic devices; keep work area organized.

Job description

First Call Staffing is looking for an experienced Electronics Assembly Technician to build custom test equipment, prototype fixtures, and rack-mount test cabinets. This position works closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers to assemble, wire, modify, and test electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and wire custom test equipment and prototype fixtures
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Build and wire control panels
  • Perform drilling, cutting, fitting, and other mechanical modifications
  • Build custom cable assemblies and wire harnesses
  • Crimp and terminate electrical connectors
  • Solder wires and components; PCB soldering is a plus
  • Assemble 19" rack-mount test cabinets
  • Perform functional testing using DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies
  • Inspect wiring and mechanical assemblies for quality
  • Follow customer specifications, work instructions, and project requirements
  • Support small-scale production of electronic devices
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and quality-focused work environment
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of electronics, electromechanical, or related assembly experience
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Crimping and wire termination
    • Soldering
    • Cable and harness assembly
    • Electrical/mechanical assembly
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, project managers, and other technicians
Preferred Experience
  • Electronics technical degree or EET degree
  • IPC certifications such as IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or J-STD-001
  • PCB hand-soldering experience
  • Experience using DMMs, oscilloscopes, and power supplies
  • VPC interconnects or Pogo Pin test fixtures
  • Avionics, aerospace, military/defense, or medical device experience
  • ESD-safe work practices
  • Custom, low-volume/high-mix manufacturing experience
Ideal Candidate: Someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, can follow detailed schematics and drawings, takes pride in clean workmanship, and is comfortable working on custom projects where every build may be different.
