Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kansas seeks a hardware/software test engineer to design, assemble, and maintain hydraulic, electrical and computer-based test systems. You will work from schematics and drawings, install instrumentation, calibrate and test equipment, and analyze data to verify proper operation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited university is required.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, construct, fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain equipment (hydraulic, electrical, and computer-based).
  • Perform tests using electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems.
  • Support commissioning of new test equipment.
  • Work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written/verbal instructions.
  • Analyze data to verify instrumentation performance on installation.
  • Calibrate and align test equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate in a team environment and work independently when required.
  • Follow safety procedures for potentially hazardous activities.

ResponsibilitiesKey Accountabilities:
  • Design, construct, fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems (primarily hydraulic, electrical and computer based equipment)
  • Perform a variety of tests utilizing electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and similar type systems and equipment
  • Support commissioning of new test equipment
  • Work with/from schematics, engineering drawings, written and/or verbal instructions
  • Operate related equipment
  • Analyse data to determine whether instrumentation is functioning correctly upon installation
  • Perform calibration and alignment checks, planning, modifications, and replacements as required
  • Work effectively and supportively in a team environment while being able to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Work with potentially hazardous equipment or on potentially hazardous test activities, following all safety equipment and processes mandated for those activities to complete them safely
  • Work directly with internal customers in a supportive and positive manner
  • Work in dynamic and deadline driven environment
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited university is required, with 5-8 years of relevant experience
Required Skills:
  • Experience assembling mechanical/electrical/hydraulic test systems
  • Experience working with mechanical/electrical/hydraulic test systems
  • Experience working with computer systems
  • Experience installing and working with instrumentation and test equipment
  • Ability to work from drawings and schematics
  • Ability to design and fabricate items required with minimal oversight
  • Experience working with various hand, power and machine shop tools
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a test lab and/or flight test environment is a benefit
  • Programming and PLC experience
