Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, based in Wichita, KS, is hiring a Sheet Metal Mechanic for permanent work. You will assemble, install, seal, rig, and inspect aircraft structures, using hand and power tools, reading blueprints and specs, and upholding safety and quality in a collaborative team.

The role requires 6+ months in aerospace sheet metal or relevant transferable skills, ability to work varied shifts, and physical stamina for an 8-hour day. Training and promotions are provided.

Qualifications

  • 6+ months in aircraft sheet metal or equivalent transferable skills with hand and power tools (must be reflected on resume).
  • Comfortable working on concrete floors, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces, or at heights.
  • Physically able to lift, squat, kneel, and crawl during an 8-hour shift.
  • Willing to work any shift and overtime when needed.
  • Must complete the WorkKeys Assessment (can be done after interview) or provide previous results.

  • Assemble, install, seal, rig, and inspect aircraft structures and components.
  • Use hand and power tools daily (drilling, riveting, bucking).
  • Read and follow drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
