This is an opportunity to join a mission-driven technology team supporting federal initiatives through high-quality software testing and process improvement. The role focuses on designing, executing, and refining functional testing strategies across complex applications and technology environments. You will work across the full software testing lifecycle, from test planning and data preparation through execution, defect management, and regression testing. The position combines hands‑on testing with automation, technical analysis, and collaboration across business and engineering teams. You will serve as a functional testing subject matter expert while helping improve testing approaches, tools, documentation, and delivery practices. Success in this role requires strong analytical thinking, organization, communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced federal environment. It is a strong fit for an experienced test professional who wants to contribute to meaningful projects while continuing to develop their technical expertise.

Accountabilities

  • Develop functional testing scenarios, detailed test cases, test data, procedures, and testing scripts based on functional and technical specifications.

  • Create, review, and maintain comprehensive test plans while defining the level of effort required for test case development.

  • Execute functional, regression, integration, and other software tests; coordinate testing activities, document results, and validate defects.

  • Develop and execute automated test scripts and support the use of software testing and test automation tools.

  • Test multiple application layers, including web interfaces, service layers, data migration, integration layers, databases, and performance components.

  • Manage testing schedules, deadlines, progress, risks, issues, and deliverables while maintaining appropriate testing documentation and DSTRs.

  • Serve as a functional testing subject matter expert and provide guidance to other test engineers and project team members.

  • Assist test leads and managers in defining and refining testing methodologies, tools, automation strategies, and documentation standards.

  • Collaborate with federal and contractor functional leads to clarify requirements, business scenarios, and expected outcomes.

  • Support Federal and contractor teams during User Acceptance Testing and respond to developer questions regarding test results, defects, and bugs.

  • Participate in project status meetings and communicate testing progress, issues, risks, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.

  • Apply professional judgment when facilitating discussions with customers, developers, functional teams, and other project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the IT industry, with substantial experience in software testing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Experience working within Agile methodologies and exposure to Waterfall and Iterative SDLC models.

  • Hands‑on experience across the software testing lifecycle, including test planning, functional testing, regression testing, defect validation, and test execution.

  • Experience with test automation, including developing and executing automated test scripts.

  • Experience with defect tracking and requirements management tools; familiarity with IBM Rational Suite, ClearQuest, Requirements Pro, or Functional Test is desirable.

  • Ability to interpret functional and technical architecture documentation and translate requirements into comprehensive test scenarios.

  • Experience testing Java, .NET, web, SOA, and ETL-based applications, with some Java development experience preferred.

  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle and MS Access databases.

  • Working knowledge of Unix and Windows environments.

  • Experience preparing test data for varied testing scenarios and application requirements.

  • Strong analytical, coordination, communication, documentation, and reporting skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage schedules and priorities independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

  • Ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $77,745–$92,455, with the final offer based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

  • Potential eligibility for additional compensation, including bonuses, depending on the position.
