Job summary

EnerSys Precision Power Solutions (PPS) is seeking a Test Engineer to plan, develop, and execute testing for advanced power electronics and battery systems across the product lifecycle. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure performance, reliability, and qualification prior to deployment.

The role emphasizes test development, data analysis, and documentation, with collaboration across electrical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related engineering discipline
  • Experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, programmable power supplies, data acquisition systems, power analyzers
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for electrical and electromechanical systems
  • Experience creating technical reports, test procedures, and engineering documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to travel occasionally as required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain test plans for power electronics, battery systems, embedded electronics, and electromechanical products.
  • Perform functional, electrical, environmental, reliability, and system-level testing throughout product development.
  • Support prototypes, qualification units, and LRIP hardware verification.
  • Execute production acceptance testing and evaluate product performance against specs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality, reliability, repeatability, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Perform initial bring-up and evaluation of new hardware and integrated systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, firmware, software, and system integration issues.
  • Utilize lab equipment to evaluate system performance, diagnose failures, and verify corrective actions.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret test data for root cause investigations and engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, systems, and manufacturing engineers to resolve issues and improve performance.
  • Develop engineering test procedures, acceptance tests, automated tests, and manufacturing test processes.
  • Support product qualification testing to military and commercial standards.
  • Continuously improve test methods, equipment, and processes to increase throughput and reliability.
  • Assist in transitioning products from development to manufacturing with robust production test processes.
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation including test plans, procedures, qualification reports, and failure analyses
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, procedures, and verification results
  • Document test results, observations, actions, and recommendations
  • Support engineering change activities and customer qualification packages
  • Support LRIP and customer demonstrations and field testing
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites, test facilities, and field exercises to support validation and acceptance activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives enhancing quality and reliability
