Job summary

Specialized is seeking a Test Engineer II in Morgan Hill, CA to advance validation of new products. You will develop and adapt test methods, analyze results, and work with Field Quality, Design, and Product teams to ensure robust validation and reduce warranty claims. International travel up to four times per year may be required.

The role emphasizes fault investigation, data-driven decisions, and hands-on testing using CAD and lab equipment, including fixtures, PLCs, and PID control concepts.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in test development or data acquisition and analysis; equivalent experience in FEA, Quality Engineering, or Mechanical Design Engineering may be considered with appropriate technical skills.
• Ability to balance established test methods with new approaches for emerging product risks.
• Experience investigating complex failure modes and translating field observations into repeatable laboratory validation methods.
• Strong technical judgment to assess risk, interpret results, and recommend validation criteria.

Responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate risk for new products by developing validation plans or adapting existing test methods.
• Evaluate product readiness for production by analyzing test results and advising on additional testing.
• Collaborate with Field Quality and Design teams to reduce warranty claims and improve rider satisfaction.
• Communicate findings to Design Engineering, Quality, and Product teams and recommend mitigation actions.
• Lead replication of complex field failures using own test methods, validating conclusions with peers.
• Analyze testing data to identify probable root causes and adjust validation criteria as needed.
• Provide technical context across product categories to share lessons from validation challenges.
