Job summary

Leidos seeks a Test Engineer to support a government contract in the National Capital Region. You will take a customer-designed DUT and build the test capability around it, connecting bench instrumentation and writing Python and LabVIEW code to automate tests.

You will develop hardware-in-the-loop environments, create operator GUIs, ensure calibrated data, and maintain automated test systems while collaborating with engineers and customers.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with willingness to upgrade to TS/SCI w/polygraph.
• BS in engineering with 8+ years experience, or MS with 6–10 years.
• Hands-on experience building automated test systems around a DUT, not software-only testing.
• Experience with bench test equipment from major vendors and NI hardware.
• Python and/or LabVIEW used to write test automation, drivers, and analysis.
• Knowledge of measurement traceability and NIST-traceable data.
• Experience operating transmitters, receivers, and power supplies.
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of documenting systems and training others.

Responsibilities

• Take a customer-designed physical DUT and determine what must be proven.
• Connect and configure bench instrumentation to the DUT.
• Write custom test automation and analysis software in Python and/or LabVIEW.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments and simulations for DUT validation.
• Build operator-facing GUIs for test execution.
• Establish and validate repeatable, calibrated data (NIST-traceable).
• Maintain and improve automated test systems, fixtures, and drivers.
• Train engineers and technicians on running the automated test systems.
• Engage with customers to understand testing needs and support business development.
• Document test procedures, system architecture, and requirements; attend reviews.
