Job summary

AKG North America in Mebane, NC is seeking a Test Engineer to support validation for new products and market needs. You will help select components, improve manufacturability, and create tests to verify product characteristics while collaborating with Marketing and Product Development.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET) with a strong thermodynamics/structural background, plus technical writing and data management skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• Strong thermodynamics background.
• Strong structural knowledge.
• Able to engineer creative and sound technical solutions.
• Technical writing and English capabilities.
• Strong Excel and MATLAB data management skills.
• Wiring and instrumentation experience (preferred).
• Data acquisition experience (preferred).
• Machine shop/fabrication experience (preferred).
• TIG welding capability (preferred).
• CAN Architecture familiarity (preferred).
• Experience with high voltage (desired).
• Experience with Battery Thermal Management Systems (desired).

Responsibilities

• Support validation for new product market needs.
• Component selection (heat exchangers, pumps, fans, compressors, controls, etc).
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA).
• Support market research led by Marketing and Product Development Manager and identify opportunities for product improvement within AKG’s catalogue.
• Support the creation of new tests and methods for validation and verification of product characteristics and requirements.
• Execute verification and validation testing at the request of other departments.
• Write technical report to summarize testing and validation efforts.
• Provide engineering support to Testing and Validation department.
• Build and test Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) prototypes.

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Manager of Product Development, this position is responsible for supporting the validation for new product for AKG of America’s market needs.
