Job summary

AKG North America in Mebane, NC is seeking a Test Engineer to support validation for new products and to build and test Battery Thermal Management Systems prototypes. You will work under the Manager of Product Development, performing DFx/DFA considerations, writing clear technical reports, and collaborating with Marketing and Product teams.

The role requires a strong mechanical engineering background, thermodynamics and data analysis skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Strong thermodynamics background.
• Strong structural knowledge.
• Technical writing and English capabilities.
• Excel and Matlab data management skills.
• Wiring and instrumentation experience preferred.
• Data acquisition experience preferred.
• Machine shop/fabrication experience preferred.
• CAN Architecture familiarity preferred.
• Experience with high voltage and Battery Thermal Management Systems is desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform verification and validation testing.
• Write technical reports summarizing testing efforts.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Manager of Product Development, this position is responsible for supporting the validation for new product for AKG of America's market needs.

• Component selection (heat exchangers, pumps, fans, compressors, controls, etc)
• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA)
• Commitment to AKG's Corporate Principles
• Support market research led by Marketing and Product Development Manager and identify opportunities for product improvement within AKG's catalogue
• Support the creation of new tests and methods for validation and verification of product characteristics and requirements
• Execute verification and validation testing at the request of other departments
• Write technical report to summarize testing and validation efforts
• Provide engineering support to Testing and Validation department
• Build and test Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) prototypes

Requirements

What we're Looking For:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
• Strong thermodynamics background
• Strong structural knowledge
• Able to engineer creative and sound technical solutions
• Technical writing and English capabilities
• Strong Excel and Matlab data management skills
• Wiring and instrumentation experience (preferred)
• Data acquisition experience (preferred)
• Machine shop/fabrication experience (preferred)
• TIG welding capability (preferred)
• CAN Architecture familiarity (preferred)
• Experience with high voltage (desired)
• Experience with Battery Thermal Management Systems (desired)
