Job summary

AKG North America in Mebane, NC is seeking a Test Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will perform hands-on testing, validate new products, and develop methods for verification of product characteristics, focusing on Battery Thermal Management Systems.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• Strong background in thermodynamics.
• Solid structural knowledge.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support validation for new products to meet market needs.
• Perform component selection (heat exchangers, pumps, fans, compressors, controls, etc).
• Apply design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
• Commit to AKG’s corporate principles.
• Support market research led by Marketing and Product Development Manager and identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Develop new tests and methods for validation and verification of product characteristics and requirements.
• Execute verification and validation testing as requested by other departments.
• Write technical reports summarizing testing and validation efforts.
• Provide engineering support to Testing and Validation department.
• Build and test Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) prototypes.

What You’ll Do:

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong background in thermodynamics.
• Strong structural knowledge.
• Able to engineer creative and sound technical solutions.
• Technical writing and English communication skills.
• Strong Excel and MATLAB data‑management skills.
• Wiring and instrumentation experience (preferred).
• Data acquisition experience (preferred).
• Machine shop/fabrication experience (preferred).
• TIG welding capability (preferred).
• CAN architecture familiarity (preferred).
• Experience with high voltage (desired).
• Experience with Battery Thermal Management Systems (desired).
