Agency Robotics is seeking a Test and Deployment Engineer to validate robotic sorting systems in the lab and deploy them at customer facilities. You will work across mechanical, electrical, and software domains to characterize performance, diagnose failures, and ensure reliable operation in production.

Ideal candidates have 1–5 years in electromechanical systems, CAD proficiency (Onshape/SolidWorks), and hands-on hardware experience, with willingness to travel up to 50%.

• 1-5 years hands-on electromechanical systems experience in robotics or automation.
• Experience designing, building, and testing hardware in team environments.
• CAD proficiency with Onshape or SolidWorks to design fixtures and jigs.
• Experience with test design, sensor implementation, data analysis, and root cause analysis.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the year and work on-site in Woburn, MA.
• Ability to write and understand code using AI tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

As a Test and Deployment Engineer, you will:

• Take a leading role in the validation, installation, and commissioning of new systems


• Become an expert in how electromechanical systems function, how they fail, and how to fix them in production environments


• Design methods to test system components, including physical testing, software validation, and failure analysis


• Troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software layers to characterize performance issues and isolate root cause


• Translate field product learnings into design feedback and fixes


• Travel to customer sites to help build, integrate, and test new systems


• Manage key resources across testing and deployment to ensure we meet project timelines and performance requirements

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering or science field


• 1-5 years of hands‑on experience working with electromechanical systems, ideally in robotics, industrial automation, or material handling


• Experience designing, building, and testing hardware in team environments


• Skilled in rapid prototyping (e.g., 3D printing, machining, fabrication) and working with hand tools, shop equipment, and bench instruments


• CAD proficiency (e.g., Onshape, SolidWorks) to design simple fixtures and jigs


• Experience with component and system testing, including test design, sensor implementation, data analysis, and root cause analysis


• Ability to use AI tools to write, read, and implement code


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and present complex technical concepts


• Highly self‑motivated and thrives in fast‑paced, cross‑functional startup environments


• Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the year, often in multi‑week deployment bursts, and a valid driver's license


• Able to work in‑person at our Woburn office between deployments


• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods

Nice to Have

• Experience working with motors, actuators, and sensors


• Exposure to embedded firmware and ability to make simple changes


• Ability to read and mark up AutoCAD warehouse site layouts


• Experience working to a formal qualification process such as DVT or PVT


• Familiarity with equipment safety practices, electrical troubleshooting, and lockout/tagout procedures


• FIRST Robotics, Formula SAE, or similar hands‑on team experience
