Company Overview
Robot.com (formerly Kiwibot) is redefining real-world automation — no sci-fi, just robots with jobs. Founded in 2017 and rooted in Colombia's culture of innovation, the company has grown from campus pilots to one of the most active robot fleets on Earth, now operating across more than 30 campuses and cities worldwide. With headquarters in San Francisco and teams in Colombia and Taiwan, Robot.com builds purpose-driven robots designed for the present: wheeled, reliable, and delightfully functional. Our technology powers last-mile delivery, mobile advertising, warehouse logistics, and food service operations — all aimed at making everyday systems smarter, faster, and more sustainable.
We recently acquired the Robot.com domain — not for the name, but for the moment. After completing over one million robotic tasks in under a year, we’re scaling a movement that brings robotics out of the lab and into daily life. Our philosophy is simple: robots shouldn't be overdesigned for imaginary futures — they should be built for real‑world work, now. At Robot.com, you'll be part of a global team turning that vision into action.
About The Role
As a Associate Field Deployment Engineer, you'll help launch and run our robot fleets at new sites across the US. You'll be hands‑on with the robots every day: setting them up, keeping them running, and fixing them when something goes wrong. You'll also help plan and execute new market launches, working with our engineering, operations, and partner teams to get a fleet up and running in a matter of weeks.
This is a full‑time, early‑career role. It's a great fit for engineers who are new to the field, including new graduates and career changers, who want real, hands‑on robotics experience.
How you'll ramp up.
You won't be thrown in alone. Your first weeks combine an introduction to our robots, fleet operations, and deployment procedures with hands‑on field work alongside experienced deployment engineers. Most of your learning happens in the field (roughly 80%), backed by structured training (roughly 20%).
What You'll Do
Deployment and field support
- Install, configure, and test robots and supporting equipment at new and existing sites
- Work with senior engineers to carry out deployment and decommissioning plans safely and on schedule
- Troubleshoot hardware, electrical, software, and network issues on‑site, and perform repairs and preventive maintenance
- Monitor fleet health and readiness, and keep robots performing to uptime targets
- Follow and help improve procedures for recovering lost or stuck robots and handing off to remote (teleoperation) support
- Make sure all work meets safety and operational standards
Site launches
- Gather input from site partners and internal teams to build a launch plan for each new site
- Execute launch plans set by leadership, on time and with a high level of quality
- Improve our launch playbooks so we can scale faster across new cities and campuses
- Support launch marketing campaigns with partners and the Central Operations team to drive early adoption
Communication and coordination
- Serve as the main point of contact between field technicians, maintenance, the service desk, hardware, and remote operations
- Post real‑time fleet status updates (active and inactive robots) in team channels such as Slack or Discord
- Act as a day‑to‑day contact for partner sites on operational and tactical questions
- Train partner staff and end users on how to use and care for the system
Documentation and workshop
- Document deployments, issues, and fixes clearly so others can learn from them
- Help write and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for deployment, decommissioning, and support
- Keep the workshop clean and organized, and prepare robots and equipment for the next day's operations
Who You Are
- You're energized by hands‑on technical work and take pride in keeping complex systems running
- You're a self‑starter who can troubleshoot independently and escalation intelligently
- You communicate clearly and proactively — your supervisors and teammates are never in the dark
- You adapt quickly in dynamic environments and don't wait for perfect conditions to get things done
- You're organized and detail‑oriented; you maintain records the way you maintain hardware — with care
- You're curious about robotics and hands‑on technology and motivated to grow within the field
What you bring
Required

- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, electronic components, and circuits
- Comfort working in Linux and the command line
- Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, SSH)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
