Position Summary
The Territory Specialist is a field-based medical sales professional responsible for supporting the Territory Manager and/or Key Account Manager in achieving territory sales objectives through the management and growth of assigned customer accounts. This role partners with healthcare providers to support clinical adoption, physician engagement, customer education, procedural support, and overall account development.
The Territory Specialist works closely with sales leadership and cross-functional teams to execute territory strategies, strengthen customer relationships, and support patients throughout the treatment process.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the Territory Manager and/or Key Account Manager in achieving or exceeding territory sales objectives.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with physicians, clinicians, administrators, and healthcare staff.
- Educate healthcare providers on clinical data, product updates, technology advancements, and best practices.
- Execute physician targeting strategies and business plans to grow utilization within assigned accounts.
- Support new product introductions and educate customers on product enhancements, hardware updates, and software updates.
- Provide procedural support and clinical case coverage as needed.
- Assist healthcare providers during patient follow-up visits, including support with product programming, therapy optimization, or device management when appropriate.
- Provide product education and support to patients and caregivers in collaboration with the treating healthcare team and in accordance with company policies.
- Coordinate with internal support teams and customer stakeholders to help ensure a positive patient experience throughout the treatment journey.
- Partner with purchasing departments and supply chain personnel to manage inventory and product availability.
- Monitor account performance, identify opportunities and challenges, and develop action plans with the territory team.
- Participate in customer education programs, professional conferences, regional meetings, and other outreach activities.
- Maintain a high level of clinical, product, and industry knowledge.
- Complete all required administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
- Conduct business with professionalism, integrity, and a customer-focused approach.
Travel Requirements
- Must reside within the assigned geographic territory.
- Ability to travel approximately 40% or more based on business needs.
- Valid driver's license required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Business, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of professional outside sales experience with documented history of success
- Medical device, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences sales experience preferred, not required
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret information and develop effective business strategies.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
