Job description

About VayKLife

Vacations are supposed to be fun. At VayKLife, we are radically committed - and genuinely energized - about helping make every guest's vacation as easy, memorable, and joyful as possible. Our mission is to put and keep smiles on guests' faces by making sure the beach gear they are counting on - bikes, chairs, umbrellas, and more - is clean, safe, fun to use, delivered on time, and ready to go the moment their vacation begins. When we do our job well, guests can stop worrying about the details and start enjoying the beach.

Our field teams are the front line of that mission. Every bike prepared, chair inspected, truck loaded, delivery completed, and service issue resolved is an opportunity to create a better vacation and deliver another smile. We are looking for leaders who share that energy, take pride in getting the details right, and can inspire teams to treat every delivery as part of someone's hard-earned vacation - not just another stop on a route.

About This Opportunity

VayKLife is building a pipeline of strong operations leaders who can take ownership of a local territory and, for candidates with broader experience, potentially lead multiple territories. We are open to considering candidates at different levels of operational leadership. Final title, territory assignment, scope, and compensation will be based on experience, demonstrated leadership capability, business need, and the responsibilities of the role offered.

Every candidate must be capable of leading a complete territory operation. More experienced candidates may be considered for a Senior Territory Manager assignment or an Operations Director role with responsibility for multiple Territory Managers and operating locations.

A level-flexible search - not an undefined hybrid role.

Candidates will be evaluated for a defined position with clear reporting relationships, authority, territory scope, and compensation before an offer is made.

The Operational Foundation

At every level, this is a management-first, field-operations role. The leader must understand the work well enough to inspect it, teach it, and intervene when genuinely necessary, while building capable teams and disciplined systems instead of becoming the permanent solution to staffing or planning gaps.

  • Own safe, timely, accurate, and efficient delivery, pickup, service, quality-control, warehouse, maintenance, and inventory operations within the assigned scope.
  • Translate forecasts, company priorities, and leadership direction into realistic daily, weekly, and multi-week operating plans.
  • Ensure people, gear, vehicles, trailers, facilities, supplies, tools, devices, and management coverage are ready for anticipated demand.
  • Build, train, schedule, supervise, coach, and hold teams accountable for safety, quality, productivity, professionalism, and company standards.
  • Align labor and local resources with forecasted work and approved operating plans.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and protect company gear, vehicles, equipment, and facilities.
  • Identify risks and resource gaps early, present practical options, and follow important work through completion.
Primary Responsibilities
Planning, Readiness, and Execution
  • Work backward from anticipated routes, reservations, pickups, service activity, gear needs, and seasonal transitions to define the required labor, equipment, fleet, facility, and supply plan.
  • Assign owners and deadlines, monitor progress, inspect completion, and prevent urgent daily activity from displacing critical readiness work.
  • Prepare for spring break, seasonal ramp-up, peak weekends, holidays, ramp-down, gear recovery, repair and refurbishment, and the following operating year.
People Leadership and Accountability
  • Maintain effective employee and management coverage for a seven-day seasonal operation.
  • Develop Assistant Managers, Operations Supervisors, dispatchers, warehouse leads, and other employees who can provide reliable leadership coverage.
  • Set clear expectations, verify proficiency through observation, provide timely feedback, and address repeated performance or compliance issues.
  • Delegate appropriate work while retaining accountability for standards, deadlines, inspection, and results.
Gear, Inventory, Warehouse, and Fleet
  • Ensure gear is available, clean, functional, properly staged, accurately recorded, and turned back into inventory at the pace required by the season.
  • Maintain disciplined receiving, counting, storage, repair, transfer, deployment, recovery, and disposition processes.
  • Keep warehouses, yards, vehicles, trailers, phones, tools, and work areas safe, clean, organized, maintained, and deployment-ready.
Labor, Quality, and Operating Discipline
  • Build schedules around defined work, monitor scheduled versus actual hours, and balance cost discipline with safety, readiness, quality, and service needs.
  • Use performance data and direct observation to identify root causes involving staffing, training, gear, preparation, warehouse processes, or management oversight.
  • Enforce company SOPs, safety practices, checklists, timekeeping, inventory controls, and other non-negotiable operating standards.
  • Communicate accurate updates and elevate material risks before they become service failures, missed deadlines, or emergency responses.
Additional Scope for Director-Level Candidates

Candidates considered for an Operations Director role should also demonstrate the ability to:

  • Lead, coach, and hold multiple Territory Managers accountable without taking over their daily jobs.
  • Translate centralized forecasts, purchasing and placement plans, and company priorities into coordinated action across several operating locations.
  • Align and move resources across territories; identify management, labor, fleet, gear, and facility gaps early; and confirm resolution.
  • Compare performance across territories, identify systemic issues, establish corrective plans, and produce measurable improvement.
  • Provide senior leadership with an accurate, timely view of readiness, performance, resource gaps, risks, and required decisions.
Qualifications
  • Five or more years of progressive management or operations leadership experience preferred, with the level of placement based on the depth and relevance of that experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading people, developing supervisors or managers, improving performance, and creating an accountable workplace culture.
  • Experience in logistics, delivery operations, warehouse operations, field services, vacation hospitality, equipment rental, or another fast-paced, asset-intensive environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of staffing, scheduling, labor management, operational planning, performance metrics, safety, and seasonal readiness.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions, communicate clearly, and follow critical work through completion.
  • Comfort working regularly in warehouses, around vehicles and trailers, and alongside field teams in changing seasonal conditions.
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and ability to travel as required by the assigned territory or regional scope.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, supply chain, hospitality, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant leadership experience will be considered.
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range across the positions covered by this search is $60,000 to $90,000. The range does not represent a single position with an undefined scope. Final compensation will correspond to the defined title, territory responsibility, experience, qualifications, and location of the role offered. Positions may also include an annual performance-based bonus opportunity and access to company benefits, including medical and dental plans, unlimited PTO, matching 401K, and professional-development opportunities, subject to applicable plans and company policies.

Equal Opportunity.

VayKLife is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
