Job summary

Mclaurin Aerospace in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Terrain Relative Navigation Engineer to join the ESSCA contract with NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. You will architect and lead TRN rendering and simulation pipelines, and contribute to high-fidelity sensor models for lunar lander contexts.

This role requires US citizenship and a strong background in Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, plus experience with GN&C, Monte Carlo analyses, and in-the-loop simulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics & Astronautics, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (ABET-accredited).
• Experience leading or contributing to Terrain Relative Navigation (TRN) and lidar-based TRN.
• Experience developing high-fidelity sensor models (lidar, laser altimeter, IMU, star tracker) for 6-DOF sims.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink.
• Flight-critical GN&C development experience with Monte Carlo analysis.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead TRN camera image rendering and simulation pipeline.
• Design and optimize rendering pipelines for high-efficiency GN&C in-the-loop simulation.
• Lead sensor modeling and TRN/HDA algorithm development and validation.
• Lead 6-DOF simulation framework development, Monte Carlo analysis, and GN&C integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and interface with NASA stakeholders.
• Direct verification, validation, and high-level briefings.
