PARK STAFF JOB SUMMARY

Park Staff are responsible for the daily upkeep, safety, and creative development of the Terrain Parks at Mission Ridge. This role includes guest interaction, snow shaping, feature maintenance, signage setup, and snow removal, while ensuring a clean and safe environment for freestyle skiing and riding.

The Park Staff must be safety-focused, possess strong terrain awareness, and demonstrate a passion for freestyle terrain. Responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Mission Ridge’s policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations. Flexibility, physical stamina, and teamwork are critical, as this role requires coordination with multiple departments and adaptability to changing mountain conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Previous experience working in terrain parks or with freestyle features is also preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of freestyle terrain risk mitigation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • RiskMitigation: Observe and identify conditions that could affect freestyle terrain use and take steps to mitigate or communicate these risks.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with various on-mountain departments to support operational needs and event preparation.
  • OperationalAwareness: Follow resort policies and procedures aimed at supporting responsible and consistent operations.
  • FeatureDesignandConstruction: Assistthedesigning, building, and maintaining creative freestyle features using hand tools and snow shaping techniques.
  • EventSupport: Supportspecialeventsandterrain-basedprojectsacrossdepartmentsasneeded.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

ParkStaff work outdoors in all weather conditions,including snow, ice, wind, cold, and heat. The role involves working near moving mechanical equipment and often requires long hours of physical labor. Flexibility, endurance, and resilience are key to success in this high-demand, fast-paced mountain environment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

This role requires extended use of hand tools and the ability to perform physical labor in challenging conditions. Employees must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds or more with good technique. Good vision—including color, peripheral, and depth perception—is essential. The position requires problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to variable tasks and terrain.
