Job summary

Landrum & Brown, a global aviation consulting firm, seeks a Terminal Planner to join the Chicago team. You will lead terminal planning studies, scope and deliver projects across terminal, airfield, and landside planning, and mentor junior staff in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.

Ideal candidates have 5–7+ years in airport planning, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit), and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture, Planning, Urban Planning, Aviation, or related field.
  • 5–7+ years of experience in airport planning, with strong expertise in terminal planning.
  • Knowledge of operations, passenger flow, facilities, and landside/airfield interfaces shape airports.
  • Experience delivering and managing commercial terminal planning projects at hub airports.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, or modeling tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience guiding teams and engaging clients.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international airport planning standards, regulatory frameworks, and the customer experience dimension of modern airports.

What You’ll Do

Lead planning studies and assessments for commercial terminal expansion, airport/landside master plans, program implementation, and advisory services.

Scope and deliver projects spanning terminal, airfield, apron, and landside planning.

Analyze data, assess demand and capacity, benchmark, and apply modeling/simulation tools.

What You Bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architecture, Planning, Urban Planning, Aviation, or related field.

Additional Information

Landrum & Brown is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of$95,000 - $130,000 annually for this position and local market.
