Job summary

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, reliability, and a proactive safety mindset. Training will cover equipment operation, regulatory compliance, and instrumented controls used in material conveyance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Experience in an industrial environment (preferred).
  • Ability to learn shipping operations and material flows.
  • Strong mathematical accuracy for calculations.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and physical fitness.
  • Reliable attendance and safety record.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of mobile equipment.
  • Must be physically fit.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety inspections of all work areas at least once per shift.
  • Prepare railroad bulk cars for unloading and inspect interiors.
  • Move rail cars and spot trucks to facilitate loading operations.
  • Operate cement extraction and conveying system machinery to provide loadout.
  • Conduct checks on conveying equipment and report issues.
  • Occasionally clean silo interiors and perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping and adhere to regulations and MCC policies.
  • Operate mobile equipment only after proper training and OSHA compliance.
  • Take on additional tasks as directed.

Starting Pay: $31.94 per hour!

Overview

The terminal operator is responsible for the daily shipping operators of all cement products while complying with all applicable mining regulations and/or Mountain Cement policies at all times. Basic qualifications and/or traits that the shipping operator must possess include:

  • Have a working knowledge of the ability to learn shipping operations and material flows.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics with accuracy.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Have reliable attendance and safety records.
  • Be able to work without constant supervision.
  • Be able to give and take directions.
  • Must be able to work with the public in person and over the telephone in efficient and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of safe and productive operation of mobile equipment.
  • Must be physically fit.
Responsibilities
  • Safety inspections of all working areas shall be performed a minimum of once per shift as required by federal mining regulations. Additional inspections may be performed as conditions warrant.
  • Prepare railroad bulk cars for unloading. Inspect and clean interiors of bulk cars when necessary. Report damage or adverse conditions to supervisor. Open and close bottom hatches of bulk cars as required.
  • Move rail cars and spot trucks to facilitate loading operations, required both manually and with a Trackmobile, move railcars with manual tool designed for moving rail equipment.
  • Operate cement extraction and conveying system machinery as required to provide cement loadout.
  • Perform operations checks and lubrication on all conveying equipment; air slides screw conveyors, drives, dust collectors, loading spouts, railroad rail, etc. report adverse conditions to supervisor.
  • Occasionally clean silo interiors.
  • Repair pumps, screws, bucket elevators, air slides, dust collectors, loading spouts, and hoppers.
  • The Terminal Operator is responsible for performing housekeeping duties in his/her work area to remove hazards. Work activities must be performed while adhering to all applicable federal/state regulations, MCC company policies, and environmental regulations at all times.
  • Clean up of the Terminal Operator’s work area on a regular basis is the responsibility of the employee performing the work; messes and leftover materials are not to be left for other MCC personnel to clear. A job is not finished until clean up of the work area is completed.
  • Operation of mobile equipment. Proper task training and safe operation guidelines will be adhered to at all times. Employees will not operate any piece of mobile equipment without being properly task trained as required by OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other work as directed.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Required
  • Experience working in industrial environment. Preferred
Physical Requirements

The Terminal Operator position is safety sensitive. The physical requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Working 8 hour - 12 hour shifts.
  • Working in areas of heat, cold, muddy, icy, or dusty conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Subject to twisting, bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing.
  • Access silos via elevator and stairway up sever flights of stairs several times per day or via a 200FT tall ladder.
  • Travel routes may include stairs, catwalks, ladders, elevated walkways, and uneven floors.
  • May be subject to lifting up to 95lbs.
