Job description

This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and quality‑conscious unloading and loading of liquid products to or from trucks, barges, rail cars, and storage tanks. Assure that the work performed consistently meets or exceeds the expectations of the supervisor and complies with all policies and procedures. Previous experience with terminal operations including hazardous chemicals is a plus. Marine industry and welding experience is highly desired. The company is willing to develop the right individuals without experience.

Terminal Operator Responsibilities

• Work with crews to load and unload product from trucks, rail cars, and barges safely into proper tanks.
• Diagnose problems and maintain a variety of bulk handling equipment.
• Perform work area/facility housekeeping functions.
• Sample products in tanks, vessels, trucks, and rail cars.
• Safely handle hazardous products.
• Respond to troubleshooting or maintenance on facility equipment.
• Perform any other terminal function as trained or instructed by supervisor.
• Obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
• Use basic hand tools or learn to use them.
• Work in strict accordance with safety, environmental, and health procedures.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.

Terminal Operator Skills

• Ability to read, write, and speak clearly.

• Willingness to obtain training/certifications as required.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

• Acceptance of supervisor direction and effective collaborative work with others.

Terminal Operator Working Conditions

• Willingness to work overtime hours during the week, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
• Ability to withstand extreme weather conditions since most work is performed outside.
• Climb tank stairs, manually open and close valves, occasionally move or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand, sit, and walk for long periods of time.
• No fear of water or heights.
