Job summary

Staffmark is hiring a Terminal Operator in Nashville, TN for a direct hire opportunity. The role requires operating Bobcats and similar equipment, unloading materials from barges, and maintaining inventory documentation. Day shift with potential overtime in peak seasons.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and ability to communicate in English. Prior heavy equipment experience is preferred, with focus on safety and efficiency on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Unload bulk materials from barges and load customer trucks safely.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, Bills of Lading, and operational documentation.
  • Coordinate daily terminal activities, communicate with customers and drivers, maintain a clean worksite, and follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required for dispatch systems, inventory tracking, and documentation.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Experience Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience.
  • Previous experience operating a Bobcat, skid steer, or similar heavy equipment preferred.
  • Experience in industrial, construction, terminal, bulk material handling, cement, aggregate, or ready-mix concrete environments preferred.
  • Mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, and troubleshooting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience maintaining inventory records, Bills of Lading, and shipping documentation is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical maintenance knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with drivers, contractors, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial setting.
  • Reliable transportation, strong attendance, and flexibility to work overtime during peak seasons.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies and procedures.
Physical Capabilities
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around barges, terminals, and open water.
  • Capable of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and performing physical labor throughout the shift.
  • Ability to safely work around heavy equipment, moving machinery, and industrial materials.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move materials as required.
Job Duties
