Job summary

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in an office setting, a valid driver's license, and strong communication skills to engage with customers and railroad crews. This role is on-site at the Somerset terminal.

Qualifications

Terminal Customer Service (2600610)

RSI Logistics, a subsidiary of TrinityRail, is seeking a Customer Service Representative for our Somerset, KY rail transload terminal. This position supports customer service requirements and handles general office tasks including BOL processing and some accounting-type functions.

What you’ll do
  • Customer Service, intake of BOLs, and commodities being delivered or transferred
  • Fulfill daily workload and tasks delegated by manager/cross‑train as necessary
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors to the facility
  • Update and maintain customer databases
  • Monitor and order customer inventory
  • Maintain filing systems
  • Communicate customer inventory information
  • Compile records of office duties and activities
  • Handle inquiries and incoming customer work order requests
  • Review files and records to answer customer requests for information
  • Check and distribute documents and correspondence
  • Photocopy, scan, fax, and send e‑mails
  • Organize and schedule customer work orders
  • Interact with customers, railroad crews, and visitors
  • Answer phone calls for the facility
  • Utilize an inventory tracking system
  • Work in trailer or building on railroad terminal property. No exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, chemicals, or hazardous equipment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver License
  • Five (5) + years of experience in an office setting; rail experience a plus
  • Ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies
  • Committed to understanding client needs, responding effectively, and ensuring satisfaction
  • Ability to actively engage in conversations to communicate with economy and clarity, clearly understand the message and intent, and receive and process feedback
  • Proficient computer skills with Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of office and business practices, equipment, and procedures
  • Attention to detail and ability to identify and correct mistakes
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to perform work safely and productively
