Job summary

Texas State University’s Department of English invites applications for a full-time, nine-month faculty position at the rank of tenured associate, tenured advanced associate, or tenured full professor to begin Fall 2027 at our San Marcos campus.

The successful candidate will sustain a significant research agenda, teach in the MA in Technical Communication program, help grow undergraduate courses, mentor junior faculty, and contribute to graduate and undergraduate program development.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in technical communication or closely related field (Required).
Established, ongoing record of productive scholarship commensurate with rank, evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications.
Evidence of developing and submitting competitive research grant applications with impact on research agenda.
Broader impact and recognition within the field (e.g., invited talks, awards, leadership).
Evidence of directing master’s theses and/or dissertations in technical communication.
Experience with academic program administration, coordination, or leadership in building/scale undergraduate or graduate programs.

Responsibilities

Sustain a significant, ongoing research agenda commensurate with rank.
Teach and provide leadership in the MA in Technical Communication program and undergraduate offerings.
Participate in development of graduate and undergraduate programs and mentor junior faculty.
Engage in college and university‑level committees and administrative responsibilities.
