Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in post-1945 United States history, beginning Fall 2027. We welcome candidates with strengths in African American, urban, labor history and interests in gender history, public history, history of science & technology, environmental history, or digital humanities.

Salary is between $69,000 and $79,000, with emphasis on scholarly contribution and service to the Beloved Community. Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. by date of appointment is required.
• Experience in interdisciplinary and/or team teaching is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the Development of Western Civilization program as part of the regular 3-3 teaching load.
• Collaborate across disciplines to enrich coursework and scholarly work.
