Job summary

Spelman College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Elementary Education (PK–5 certification) track of the Educator Preparation Program, with a specialization in STEM Education, starting Fall 2027.

The successful candidate will prepare teacher candidates to design and lead integrated STEM instruction in elementary classrooms, supervise field placements, engage in scholarly research, and contribute to service within the department and college.

Qualifications

• Doctorate required in a field related to Elementary Education or STEM Education.
• Evidence of, or strong potential for, high-quality undergraduate teaching.
• Evidence of, or strong potential for, scholarly research and publication.
• Experience in PK–12 classroom teaching or clinical experiences preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in elementary STEM methods, mathematics and science education.
• Supervise and mentor teacher candidates during field placements and student teaching, with focus on PK–5 STEM.
• Maintain an active research agenda in STEM education, math or science teaching and learning.
• Contribute to curriculum development and alignment with state standards and accreditation.
