Slippery Rock University is inviting applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in the Special Education Department beginning August 2027. The position will involve teaching undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs and supporting accreditation and scholarly activities.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in special education or related field.
• Certification in special education.
• Three or more years experience teaching students with disabilities within the K-12 setting.
• Evidence of potential for scholarship and research agenda.
• Evidence of ability to engage undergraduate and/or graduate students in research.
• Evidence of ability to engage with students through advisement and mentoring
• Evidence of potential to obtain grant funding for research and/or training activities.
• *Successful performance in an on-campus interview, and a teaching demonstration are required. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• The primary role will be teaching assignments in the Special Education undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs.
• This position also supports doctoral dissertation committee service, accreditation efforts, assessment, student advisement at all levels, development of community partnerships and expansion of opportunities for student’s within our diverse repertoire of programs.
• This position requires teaching face to face and within the online setting.
• It also includes supervision of student teachers and field students and participation in department, College of Education and university-wide committees, local, regional, and national presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
• The assignment may include off-campus and/or web based instruction.
