Job summary

Grand Valley State University in Michigan invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor positions in Special Education within the Teaching and Learning department. Appointments begin August 2027 and require in-person responsibilities at the Grand Rapids campus.

Applicants must have a Doctorate (ABD acceptable with expected completion by Aug 2027) and demonstrate potential for teaching, scholarship, and service across modalities including in-person, online, or hybrid formats.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Special Education or related field, ABD ok with expected completion by Aug 2027.
• Demonstrated ability to teach courses for students with disabilities.
• Record of successful K-12 teaching with students with disabilities.
• Potential for university-level teaching and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in special education with emphasis on inclusive practices.
• Supervise teacher candidates during clinical experiences in K-12 schools.
• Advise students in undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Develop and improve courses and curricula.
• Develop a research agenda with publications and presentations.
