Eastern Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Special Education. The appointment begins Fall 2027 within the Department of Special Education & Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Education.

The successful candidate will design and deliver in-person, hybrid, remote, and online instruction; advise students; engage in scholarly activity; and contribute to service at multiple levels. Start date is Fall 2027 on main campus.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Special Education or related field completed by appointment start date.
• 3+ years of P-12 special education teaching experience.
• Experience preparing diverse teacher candidates (traditional and non-traditional backgrounds).
• Experience with in-person, hybrid, remote and/or online instructional design/delivery.
• Experience addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion in teacher preparation.
• Active scholarly agenda related to tenure and promotion criteria.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver instruction in-person, hybrid, remote and online for multiple disability areas and licensure pathways.
• Design curricula and pedagogy aligned with best practices, inclusive excellence, and state standards.
• Provide academic and scholarly advising to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Engage in research and scholarly activities aligned with the program and university goals.
• Provide service at program, department, college, and university levels.
• Meet all contractual obligations for tenure-track faculty.
