Job summary

University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a nine-month, full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Special Education with a specialization in Critical Disability Studies. The successful candidate will teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds, contribute to teaching across in-person, online, and hybrid modalities, and establish a rigorous scholarly agenda.

Qualifications

Earned doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Special Education or related field by the start of the appointment.
Minimum of 3 years of full-time credentialed PK-12 special education teaching experience in the USA.
Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching in candidate’s areas of expertise.
Demonstrated ability to develop and pursue a scholarly research agenda.

Responsibilities

Teach and mentor students from diverse backgrounds in multiple modalities (in-person, online, hybrid).
Engage in research and service, including accreditation, assessment, curriculum development, and program reviews.
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students and build external partnerships with communities and schools.
Contribute to the School of Education’s mission and inclusive excellence on the Tacoma campus.
