University of Texas Rio Grande Valley invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish beginning in the 2027-2028 academic year. The candidate will develop and teach Peninsular Literature courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, in traditional and online environments, and support the development of the Spanish program.

The successful applicant will advise students, serve on committees, and develop a solid research agenda with potential external funding.

Formación

• PhD in Peninsular Literature or closely related field; 18 graduate hours in Spanish.
• ABD will be considered but doctorate required by August 31, 2027 for appointment.
• Demonstrated potential for a strong research and publication record.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and external funding.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and teach Peninsular Literature courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, in-person and online.
• Advise students and participate in program/department committees.
• Develop a solid research agenda and pursue external funding opportunities.
