The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish in the College of Liberal Arts beginning in the 2027-2028 academic year. The department seeks an energetic candidate to develop and teach Peninsular Literature courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, both in traditional and online environments.

Qualifications

• PhD in Peninsular Literature or related field; doctorate required by Aug 31, 2027.
• 18 graduate hours in Spanish or Peninsular Literature.
• At least 1 publication in the last 3 years.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence.
• Potential for external research funding.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach Peninsular Literature courses at undergraduate and graduate levels (in person and online).
• Advise students and serve on program/department committees as needed.
• Develop a solid research agenda and pursue scholarly publications.
