The Department of Writing and Language Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Applied Linguistics to begin Fall 2027. The position teaches across linguistics and TESOL, supporting undergraduate English Linguistics and ESL minors, as well as MA programs.

The appointee will conduct research, mentor graduate students, and contribute to teaching with technology within a bilingual, bicultural Rio Grande Valley

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics (or closely related field) from an accredited institution; ABDs considered, doctorate by Aug 31, 2027 required for appointment.
• Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching.
• Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in research/scholarship.

Responsibilities

• Teach across linguistics and TESOL courses for undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Mentor and supervise graduate students and conduct research.
• Carry out service responsibilities for the department and institution.
