Job summary

The University of Tennessee College of Social Work invites applications for an assistant or associate professor in social work in any areas of social work practice and research.

We seek candidates with an independent trajectory of research who can also build on and/or collaborate with current faculty's areas of research strength and contribute to our broadening interdisciplinary and community-based research partnerships.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Social Work or related field (ABD considered if dissertation completed by July 31, 2026)
• Assistant Professor track with potential for external funding
• Evidence of research agenda with potential for external funding
• Record of high-quality scholarship in peer-reviewed publications and/or policy impact
• Evidence of effective teaching at university level
• Commitment to inclusive climate aligned with accreditation standards

Responsibilities

• Contribute to graduate and undergraduate education in social work
• Build interdisciplinary and community-based research partnerships
• Develop extramural funding and research program
• Mentor students and engage with diverse communities
