Job summary

University of Maine's School of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will teach and advise in undergraduate and graduate programs, and build an independent research program while contributing to service within the university and state.

The 75% teaching/25% research appointment will involve teaching in on-campus BSW and MSW programs, with courses in multiple curricular areas and a strong emphasis on mentoring and

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in social work or related field; degree must be completed prior to employment or ABD acceptable.
• MSW degree and at least two years of post-MSW social work practice experience.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in research or scholarly activity.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness at undergrad and/or graduate levels.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Ability to teach in at least two sequence areas: clinical practice, HBSE, macro practice, research, or social welfare policy.
• Interest in pursuing externally funded research.
• Commitment to advancing social work values, ethics, and anti-oppressive scholarship and practice.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in two or more curricular areas.
• Provide academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Establish an independent research and scholarship program and seek external funding.
• Engage in service within the School, University, and broader communities.
