Job summary

The University of Tennessee College of Social Work in Knoxville invites applications for an assistant or associate professor in social work. We seek candidates with an independent trajectory of research and potential for extramural funding, capable of contributing to graduate and undergraduate education.

Special interest in health, AI/compute for social good, and local community engagement research is welcomed. Applicants must have a Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field (ABD’s considered, if the dissertation is expected to be completed by July 31, 2026)
• Evidence of a research agenda with potential for external funding
• Strong record of scholarship with peer‑reviewed publications and/or policy/public impact
• Commitment to an inclusive, supportive climate in teaching and research per CSWE standards
• Two years post MSW practice experience (preferred)
• Experience teaching across programs and modalities; interdisciplinary collaboration

Responsibilities

• Contribute to high‑quality graduate and undergraduate social work education
• Develop and sustain an independent research program with potential for external funding
• Collaborate with faculty on interdisciplinary and community‑based research
• Promote inclusive and welcoming environments for all university community members
