City University of New York Graduate Center seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Al & Computational Photonics for Fall 2027, joining the Ph.D. Program in Physics.

This role supports the CUNY Photonics Initiative and Empire AI resources, with emphasis on theory, computation and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will lead research, teaching and mentorship, contribute to AI‑relevant projects, and pursue external funding; GC CUNY emphasizes public good and cross‑campus

Qualifications

• PhD in area(s) of experience or equivalent and ability to teach successfully.
• Record of significant research, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
• Willingness to perform independent research and collaborate on projects; fit with Photonics initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Teach, research and mentor students within the PhD Physics program.
• Develop new educational and research initiatives at CUNY GC.
• Pursue externally funded research and collaborate across CUNY and related institutes.
