Job summary

The City College of New York invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Physics, anticipated to begin Fall 2027. We seek candidates in computational condensed matter physics with a focus on quantum materials and strong theory-experiment collaboration.

Ideal candidates will establish a vigorous, internationally recognized research program, collaborate with CCNY experimental groups, and contribute to teaching and mentoring at all levels.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field is required.
• Postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, teaching, and student mentoring.
• Ability to develop an independent theoretical research program and collaborate with experimental work.

Responsibilities

• Establish a vigorous, internationally recognized, externally funded research program.
• Collaborate with experimental programs at CCNY in quantum materials, photonics, and quantum optics.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and mentor students at all levels.
• Engage in inter-institutional collaborations within CCNY and across CUNY.
