Job summary

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education. The appointee will contribute to undergraduate and graduate mathematics education, teaching in diverse delivery modes, and advancing equity in STEM education.

The position prioritizes research in mathematics education, collaboration with diverse communities, and service to the department, college, and university. Start date: Fall 2027; review of applications begins 2026.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in mathematics education or related field with completion by August 1, 2027.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness and equity-focused instruction.
• Demonstrated potential for published scholarship in mathematics education.
• Commitment to serving a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students.
• Interest in K-8 math teacher preparation, K-16 statistics or data science education, and related programmatic changes.

Responsibilities

• Teach and develop equitable undergraduate mathematics courses for future mathematics educators and other students in the department.
• Teach and develop graduate courses for educators in the Master of Science in Mathematics for Educators.
• Contribute to efforts to develop, credential, and support K-12 diverse mathematics teachers.
• Advise undergraduate and/or graduate students; supervise student teachers when appropriate.
• Participate in seeking external funding and engage in research and service activities.
