Job summary

The Philosophy Department at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign seeks candidates with expertise in Early Modern Philosophy for a tenure-track/tenured position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level with a target start date of August 16, 2027.

The successful candidate can expect to teach 4 courses per year (2 per semester) at the lower- and upper-division undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications

Ph.D in philosophy or a related discipline and evidence of ability to contribute significantly to the department and discipline through research, teaching, service, and leadership.
Applicants at the Assistant Professor level must demonstrate a promising research agenda and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching.
Applicants at the Associate/Full Professor level must have an established record in research, teaching, and service.
All candidates should demonstrate creativity and success in teaching at levels appropriate to experience, including graduate-level courses in Early Modern Philosophy.
Experience fostering an inclusive and collaborative teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment is desired.

Responsibilities

Teach assigned courses at undergraduate and graduate levels (lower and upper-division).
Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
Conduct research leading to publications and scholarly outputs.
Participate in faculty meetings, departmental committees, and university initiatives.
