Job summary

The Philosophy Department at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, seeks candidates with expertise in Early Modern Philosophy for a tenure-track/tenured appointment at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level with a start date of August 16, 2027. The successful candidate will teach roughly four courses per year across undergraduate and graduate levels, advise students, and contribute to research and service within a vibrant LAS community.

Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D in philosophy or a related discipline and evidence of ability to contribute significantly to the department and discipline through research, teaching, service, and leadership.
• All candidates should demonstrate evidence of creativity and success in teaching at levels appropriate to experience.
• For associate and full candidates, we expect accomplishment at all levels (lower and upper-level undergraduate and graduate) and scholarly research.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, including graduate-level courses in Early Modern Philosophy.
• Advise graduate and undergraduate students and contribute to departmental and program service.
• Engage in research, pursue publications and scholarly presentations, and participate in faculty governance.
