Description

Johns Hopkins University is making a major investment in datascience and the exploration of artificial intelligence. TheDepartment of Electrical & Computer Engineering is embarking onan aggressive hiring effort for multiple tenure-trackpositions.

Our search includes multiple tracks in Electrical and ComputerEngineering and artificial intelligence, including:

  • AI Hardware and Systems, including AI accelerators,computer architecture for machine learning, energy-efficientcomputing, hardware-software co-design, memory systems, andphotonics for AI hardware.
  • Sensing, Signal Processing, and Communications for AI,including AI for wireless and communication systems, machinelearning for signal processing, sensor fusion, statistical learningfor noisy physical systems, and uncertainty-aware inference.
  • Autonomy, Control, and Cyber-Physical Systems, includingadversarial robustness, learning-based control, robot perceptionand control, safe reinforcement learning, and secure and reliablecyber-physical systems.
  • Other areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering relatedto artificial intelligence, including signal processing,sensing, inference, learning for dynamical systems, and otheremerging AI-related ECE areas.

We are particularly interested in interdisciplinary researcherswhose work spans applications in areas such as national security,societal safety, healthcare, clinical care, neuroscience,communications, sensing, robotics, and other domains of importanceto the University’s mission. Faculty will have the opportunity toparticipate in Johns Hopkins University’s Data Science and AIInstitute and benefit from its unparalleled computationalinfrastructure and interdisciplinary environment.

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering has 35full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 6 researchfaculty, 3 teaching faculty, 150 PhD students, over 120 MSEstudents, and 180 undergraduate students.

Qualifications

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computerengineering, or a related field and will be expected to contributeto the growth of the Electrical & Computer Engineering program, develop an independent research program, secure research funding, and teach courses in the electrical and computer engineeringarea.

Salary Range

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

Vaccine Requirements

Johns Hopkins University strongly encourages, but no longer requires, at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This change does not apply to the School of Medicine (SOM). The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those candidates who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
